Clearwater woman catches fire in garage, dies

Posted: Updated:

A Clearwater woman has died after catching fire inside her garage, investigators said.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue got the call from the woman's husband around 10:45 Wednesday night. He told them she was on fire out in the garage at 2880 Lemonwood Street.

When firefighters got there a few minutes later, she was engulfed in flames. They took her to the hospital immediately, where doctors spent hours trying to save her life.

Investigators told FOX 13's Alcides Segui that she has passed away from her injuries at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, and that her name was Rhonda Wolfe.

Thursday afternoon, investigators said it appeared Wolfe set herself on fire. They say she left a suicide note.
