Dense Fog, Black Ice Causing Problems For Morning Commuters

MAPLE SHADE, N.J. -

If you have to get on the road this morning to get to work, you may want to leave yourself some extra time because of the fog.

A Dense Fog Advisory has now been extended until 9 a.m.

And there are big problems with black ice to the north and west of Philadelphia. Use caution!

"Temperatures at or below freezing for much of eastern PA and northern NJ along with dense fog can lead to black ice on untreated surfaces," the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, N.J., tweeted early Wednesday.

There's a 45 mph speed restriction on the New Jersey Turnpike, and the limit is 25 mph on bridges due to fog, including the Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman and Commodore Barry bridges.

Just after 6 a.m., visibility at Philadelphia International Airport dropped to 0.3 of a mile.

An hour later, the airport reported that it's experiencing some arrival delays averaging up to 24 minutes due to low visibility. They're encouraging travelers to check with your airline, call 1-800-PHL-GATE or check their website for your flight's status.

Don't worry, we have you covered with traffic and weather together! Our Sue Serio and Kacie McDonnell will help you navigate this soupy morning.

And Steve Keeley is reporting live from Maple Shade, N.J., on the conditions out there.
