Sunday was a beautiful day for a bicycle ride, but some people on the Courtney Campbell pedestrian bridge had their rides derailed.
Police are investigating an incident where it appears someone intentionally tossed tacks onto the bridge, causing several people to get flat tires.
FOX 13's Michael Shingleton reports that there has been an on-going riff between fishermen and bike riders – so much so that anglers were eventually booted.
Many wonder if the tacks were an act of retaliation. The Tampa Bay Times reported as many as 20 people had flat tires as a result of the malicious prank.
The tacks were small thumbtacks, but there enough thrown on the bridge to cause damage to the tires. Police said damages totaled about $600 and the bridge was cleared.
Investigators are looking for possible suspects. If you have any information about what may have happened, contact the Tampa Police Department. If you were a victim, police want to speak to you as well.
