Man Seriously Injured In Hit And Run Accident

Westchester, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) Police searched for a female driver who struck a male pedestrian today in a hit-and-run accident in Westchester.

The accident occurred at the intersection of LMU Drive and Lincoln Boulevard near Loyola Marymount University around 4:15 a.m., said Officer M. Scott of the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Station. The suspect fled on foot, he said.

An LAPD sergeant at the scene said the pedestrian, a man in his 60s, had been jogging or walking northbound on the sidewalk of Lincoln Boulevard near LMU Drive when he was struck by the vehicle. The sergeant said in a broadcast interview that the vehicle first struck a pole, then the pedestrian, who suffered possibly life-threatening injuries.

An elderly man out on a morning walk in Westchester, was struck by a car and is in critical condition at UCLA hospital.

Police say it happened around 415am Thursday at Lincoln blvd near LMU drive. They say a female driver slammed into a light post then hit the man.

The driver then fled on foot. Police are looking for the suspect whose car is registered in San Bernardino.

LAPD sgt Stacy Krajchir says "we do have a person of interest we are talking to but we don't know if that person is involved at all in what happened."

Police are asking anyone with information to contact authorities.
