Family Reunites With Man After Finding His Photo On USA Today

Posted: Updated:

A simple photograph played a key role in saving a man from a life on the streets.

He had disappeared from his home in New York and the picture helped his family find him down in Washington, DC.

20-year-old Nicholas Simmons had been missing from his home since New Year's Day. However, luck intervened to find him.

His family spotted a photograph of him on the front page of the USA Today with a story about the cold weather.

They contacted the photographer who works for the Associated Press.

With the help of DC Metropolitan Police, they found Simmons.

Authorities have not said why the young man left. However, his family says that they are happy to have him back.

What are the odds of this happening? According to USA Today, the photo on the front of the paper was one of 126 photos the Associated Press moved on its wire about the weather. Three photos were of Nicholas Simmons and only in one could you see his face clearly. That's not to mention the chance of the family just happening to read the paper that day and the odds of Nicholas being there where the photo was taken.
