SARASOTA (FOX 13) -

Sarasota police have shot and killed a man, investigators tell Fox 13.

A suspect was shot and killed near the intersection of 40th Street and Royal Palm Avenue after officers say the man pointed a gun at them.

Two officers were apparently on bicycle patrol in the area when it happened. They say they ordered the man to drop the gun multiple times.

When he refused, they fatally shot him.

EMS on scene tried to revive him. It remains unclear why the man pulled a gun out.

The two officers are now on routine administrative leave while the incident is investigated.

Sarasota police have not released the names of the suspect or the officers involved.
