ATLANTA -

FOX 5 put together some of the answers to the most asked questions we receive during winter weather. We decided to answer them for everyone. If you have a question, please email us at newstipsatlanta@foxtv.com, tweet us at @FOX5StormTeam or facebook.com/FOX5Atlanta.

Q. Will my neighborhood see snow or ice?
A.
This is probably the most asked question, the short answer is that there is the possibility, but for a full explanation, click on the video above to get the full answer from FOX 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Jeff Hill.

Q. Will there be school? Is my business closed?
A.
We are constantly updating the list of closures, delays and cancellations on myfoxatlanta.com. You can check out those by clicking here.

Q. Is it going to be too cold for my pets to go outside?
A.
A good rule of thumb is that if it is too cold for you, it is too cold for your pets. It would be more than a good idea to let them inside when it's below freezing. FOX 5 sister station FOX 32 Chicago recently did a story about dressing your pets for winter. Watch it by click here.

Q. What about plants? Should I bring some of those in or cover some of them?
A.
Potted plants should be brought in or protected. And some tender vegetation should also be covered. Pike Nursery dropped by Good Day Atlanta the other day to address this question. You can watch the segment by clicking here.

Q. During a black ice incident, is it better to drive on the main roads or on the side roads?
A.
It's better to not drive at all unless absolutely necessary until state and local road crews have been able to treat the roadways affected. We will update those as we hear about them and will let you know which roads are okay to travel. For the latest traffic information you can click here.

Q. Should I run my faucet during this cold snap?
A.
Our sister station in Chicago have some advice in that respect. You can read about it here.

Q. What's the best way to dress for the cold?
A. Dress in layers. That way, if you get too hot, you can take one of the layers off. FOX 5 New York shared a segment with us they did the other day on dressing for cold weather. You can watch their story here.

Q. How do I prepare my car for this extreme cold blast?
A
. Our sister station in Chicago have some advice in that respect. You can read about it here.

Q. Is there anything I can do to help those in need tonight battling the cold? How can I help the homeless? How can I get help?
A
. The best place to start with that is with the United Way. Most metro Atlanta areas have a 211 service. Simply call 211 and they will be able to direct you to the proper charity. For more information on 211 click here.

Q. When was the last time we were under a Wind Chill Warning in north Georgia?
A.
FOX 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Jeff Hill says the last time was during 1993's Superstorm.

Q. Why is there always a run on milk, bread and eggs?
A.
These have long been considered staple foods, but as to why there is a run on these items at the grocery store leading up to a winter weather event is just one of those things. It could be they are craving French toast. Give us your best guess at facebook.com/FOX5Atlanta.

Q. I have a really cool picture of snow, ice or storm damage... How do I get it to you?
A.
You can email it to us at weather@myfoxatlanta.com, tweet us at @FOX5Atlanta or post it to our Facebook page at facebook.com/FOX5Atlanta.
