WINTER HAVEN (FOX 13) -

UPDATE: David Archer is being held without bond at the Polk County Jail. At approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, David Archer turned himself in to authorities at the Polk County Central Booking Facility in Bartow Florida. Winter Haven Police Detectives interviewed Archer. He is charged with Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, Domestic Violence, and Shooting into a Dwelling.

PREVIOUS STORY:

There is only really one way to describe David Archer's actions.

"It is really sad and its really disturbing," said Jamie Brown.

Jame Brown a public information officer with the Winter Haven Police Department said Archer's rage started as the couple celebrated New Years Eve together.

"Something occurred and he got extremely angry and violent with her," she said.

So violent officers said he beat and strangled his wife of several years.

She even lost consciousness.

"He kept her confined in the home for awhile got very irate at one point even took a handgun out and shot a bullet into an interior wall," Brown said.

Officers said Archer caused major damage to his wife's face and upper body.

She begged to go to the hospital.

At first Archer agreed, but changed his mind.

"He kind of took a detour. He went over to Orlando and threatened to jump off of an overpass," said Brown.

His wife talked him down.

But officers said he threatened to kill her and himself numerous times before finally taking her to the Winter Haven Hospital.

"He made her fabricate a story stating that she had gotten into a fight with two other females at their home,"she said.

Nurses called officers telling them something did not seem right, but Archer's wife stuck with her story.

"Archer would not leave his wife's side he made sure he was right there making sure she would tell the story he wanted it," she said.

From there officers said Archer brought his wife to a Hampton Inn off Highway 27 and held her against her will for two days.

"She just started talking to him again begging him lets end this," said Brown.

Just as quickly as Archer's rage started it ended.

Officers said after three days he dropped his wife off at home

and left on his motorcycle.

The couple's children were staying with a relative during the incident.

Archer faces charges of Domestic Battery Strangulation, Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, Shooting into and Occupied Dwelling Suspect stemming from an incident that began on New Years Eve and continued into New Years Day.

He is possibly driving a blue 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6, Florida tag 98676N. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who knows of Archer's whereabouts or who sees him is asked to call Winter Haven Police Detective Steve Rusich at 863-401-2256.

Callers can also call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477).
