Bartow Police released a composite of a man they say raped a 13-year-old girl outside her home in broad daylight.
Sgt. David Wyant describes what happened:
"She was on the outside of her residence when she was attacked. After the attack, her siblings were in the house. She went inside and notified her parents who in turn called the police," Wyant said.
It happened near Oaklawn Avenue and MLK -- community with a mix of young families and older couples.
It's the same place Cecil Campbell used to call home for 20 years.
"The whole neighborhood is disturbed about it. It's a very horrific incident that happened, it's terrible," Campbell said.
Campbell raised his daughters there and now he's nervously watching his grandchildren grow up down the street.
"The whole neighborhood is shocked and everybody is locking their doors," Campbell said.
Investigators say the teenager had seen the suspect two days before in the neighborhood, but they believe the attack was random.
"The subject appeared to be driving a white newer model Ford Sedan," Wyant said.
But now the car and attacker have disappeared. Everyone hopes a composite sketch could help provide the lead investigators desperately need.
"We just hope this person gets caught. The sooner, the better," Campbell said.
