Posted: Updated:

Tampa Bomb Squad cleared the scene in Clearwater, after a man tried to light a bucket of fertilizer.

Witnesses called police at 9:58 a.m., and reported they saw the man at the bus stop near 2200 Sunset Point Road.

The roadway was shut down at 10:20 a.m. during the investigation.

When police and fire arrived on scene, the suspect tried to leave.

Constantine Tambourakis was taken into custody shortly thereafter.

As part of the investigation, police spoke to his family who lives close by and was told that he was doing similar things yesterday with smaller amounts of palm tree fertilizer at the house.

They did not notify authorities yesterday.

Today's amount of fertilizer was larger.

Clearwater Police said the family told them Tambourakis has a history of mental issues and is currently off of his medication.

He has been charged with making a destructive device.
