Classic cars stolen from movie theater parking lot

BRANDON (FOX 13) -

It's the key to nostalgia: Lynn Holland's '56 Ford Thunderbird was a drive back in time...in his case, with the top down.

His convertible rarely left secure storage, but Sunday, Holland decided to take it out for a holiday spin.

"That's the first time I've had it out in well over a year," Holland said Thursday.

He went to a movie at the Brandon Regency Theater while he was out. But make no mistake about it, Holland wouldn't dream of leaving his wheels out after dark. He caught a matinee, but walked out to a horrible ending.

His car was gone.

"I went out of my mind. I went crazy. I was hurt. I cried," he said.

But this horror story happened twice. Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies say another Ford Thunderbird convertible, this one a '59, was stolen from the same parking lot on December 18th.

Deputies are investigating who got away with the two head-turners. But in the meantime, Holland is left with one wish for his 87th birthday on Friday.

"Nothing would make me happier more than to have that car back," Holland said.

If you have any information about either of the two crimes, you're asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
