Secret Santa Pays Layaway For Wal-Mart Shoppers

Posted: Updated:

A Secret Santa stopped at a Wal-Mart in Kentucky and paid $1300 in layaway for people he didn't even know.

FOX's Gilbert Corsey has more from one mother touched by the secret hero.

When you listen to Tequila Batts explain her situation it's a wonder she's still alive hit by a train, homeless, divorced all at the same time.

"I can't believe someone out there picked me and don't know anything about me and my situation," Batt said. "I had already told her just give momma more time."

She had all but written off another Christmas for her 10-year-old daughter Quiajah.

"And this is the first time in two years I'm able to give her what she wanted right on time," Batt said.

There are167 more "right on time" stories coming from the Wal-Mart on Cane Run Road in Louisville, KY.

The Secret Santa whose sleigh landed here last week paid off $13,000 in layaway gifts that were heading back to the shelf because people couldn't pay.

When the donor came in Wal-Mart, workers started looking for who needed help and people that hadn't paid in a while with toys or toddlers clothing on hold.

The Secret Santa had just two requests, to remain anonymous and for the families he helped to pay it forward.

Tequila Batts had just $150 left on her layaway and now her Christmas is priceless.

"Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart you have no idea what this meant for me and my daughter God bless you and I will pass it on," Batts said
