Christie’s Hot Topics

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Late last week, CNN’s Glen Beck took some jabs at Governor Christie calling him “a fat nightmare.” The governor is also getting slack for his possible involvement in the ongoing bridgegate debacle involving the unannounced lane closures on the George Washington Bridge back in September.

Matt Rooney with the online blog SaveJersey.com chimed in on these hot topics surrounding New Jersey’s governor.

“There is a lot we still need to know about bridgegate, but he took a step back and said they’re going to ask questions, I don’t feel put upon by it, I’m just telling you that I went, held all the people in my organization accountable and asked them whether or not they were involved. They told me no. Let’s see what happens. And I think people respect that, it comes across as a very candid response, not what they’re used to getting” Rooney said.

Christie also named former campaign manager Bill Stepien to a post on the Republican Governor’s Association and many feel like this move was extremely strategic.

“The move to put Bill Stepien over at the RGA is incredibly significant. Bill Stepien in his capacity is Chris Christie’s campaign manager, but also his Deputy Chief of Staff. He has a reputation of an enforcer in New Jersey, both on the governmental end and also in the Republican Party. If you’re part of Chris Christie’s extended organization and get a call from Bill Stepien, chances are the governor is not happy with something you have done,” Rooney said.

For many, the conflict between Israel and Palestine hits close to home. Yesterday a rally took place outside of the United Nations building in New York City and people from both sides were on hand to voice their concerns about the ongoing airstrikes. New Jersey’s Rabbi Gross discussed the fact that many of his former students, after graduation, decided to join the Israeli Defense Force and are now immersed in the fighting.
