The big game is not far away now. Super Bowl 48 will be played at MetLife Stadium February 2. And for those looking to avoid the cold, the stadium is uniquely positioned to offer some luxury indoor options.
MetLife has 220 suites, which cost between $25,000 and $35,000 on a normal game. But this is no normal game. Suites for the Super Bowl are selling for a small fortune. The NFL is listing them at $400,000 and up for a 30-person suite. It's a dollar figure that might seem astronomical to the average fan.
Welcome to the sweet life. It's the best of both worlds.
Brian Lafemina, the NFL vice president of club business development, says that most years these elegant options are limited. But this year the NFL is able to sell access because MetLife has more suites than most stadiums. He says being in a suite is like throwing the best Super Bowl party at your house, but being able to step out the door and find yourself inside stadium where the game is taking place.
Robert Tuchman, president of sports and entertainment marketing company Goviva, says that despite the high prices the suites have become a desirable option for corporations looking to throw a big party without the February chill. He says there is no doubt that the Super Bowl is where corporate America comes to party.
It is a chance to party at the biggest sporting event on the planet. The record prices are just part of the game.
