NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A boy and his sister were walking to school in Queens Friday morning when a tractor trailer driven by an apparently unlicensed driver stuck and killed the boy, police said.

Noshat Nahian, 8, and his 11-year-old sister were at the intersection of Northern Boulevard at 61st Street at about 8 a.m. when the truck made a left turn onto the boulevard and its rear wheels struck him, police said. He was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The truck driver, Mauricio Osorio-Palominos, 51, of Newark, remained on the scene. After investigating, the NYPD arrested Osorio-Palominos and charged him with aggravated unlicensed operation of motor vehicle and operating vehicle in violation of safety rules, police said.

Friday was the last day of school for NYC public school students ahead of the Christmas break.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.

A Delta Air Lines flight from La Guardia Airport to West Palm Beach, Florida, was diverted to Jacksonville because of a dispute between passengers over a reclining seat. Delta reportedly says the flight was diverted Monday night when a woman got into an argument with a passenger behind her when the woman was trying to recline her seat while the other passenger was trying to sleep on the tray table.

New York City subway riders are getting back service on the G train between Brooklyn and Queens. The return of service comes as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority reopens a tunnel Tuesday that was heavily damaged by Superstorm Sandy. The Greenpoint tunnel has been closed for five weeks for repairs. Shuttle buses were provided between G stops in Queens and Brooklyn during that time.
