A firefighter is recovering after being injured on the job this morning.
Crews were putting out a house fire in the 3500 block of North Tampa Street.
The two-story home was fully engulfed with flames shooting 40 to 50 feet in the air.
They decided to back off and fight it from a distance, rather than getting in close. It took them about an hour to get it under control, and then they stayed and mopped up hot spots for a while.
A firefighter hurt his hand but should be OK.
No word yet on what caused the blaze, and firefighters aren't sure if anyone actually lived in the home.
