BRADENTON (FOX 13) -

Human bones were found in a wooded area of Manatee County on Thursday, and now, detectives believe they know who that was.

Authorities believe they were the remains of Joel Ramirez.

They were found at the Duette Preserve. He was considered a person of interest in the murder of his former girlfriend, Maria Moralez, who was shot to death in an orange grove in August.

It happened about two miles from where the bones were found.

Detectives say along with the bones, they found an ID belonging to Ramirez.

They believe he took his own life after killing Moralez.
