Deputies arrested a 16-year-old girl Wednesday, saying she sent text messages threatening to cause violence at Gaither High School.
The teenager is a student at Sickles High School, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators say they got a tip from another student's father. That student told her father she got a message from the teen saying not to go to school today, because she was going to harm people there.
Authorities were especially concerned because of reports that there were guns in the teen's home.
Deputies went to the home and interviewed the teen and her mother. They say she admitted to sending the text messages, but she said she never intended to hurt anyone.
The girl was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center. There were no firearms found in the home.
She faces felony charges of sending written threats.
