A doctor in Sarasota has been arrested and charged with practicing medicine without a license.
Leonard Rubinstein, 59, had his license revoked in December of 2012.
He worked at the Center for Integration in Cosmetic Surgery on Siesta Drive.
According to an arrest affidavit, the Florida Board of Medicine voted to revoke his license in April of 2011. It was permanently revoked in December of 2012.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office says they got reports that he was practicing without a license, and sent an undercover team to investigate.
He offered to do a breast augmentation procedure that he said no other doctor could do, and that the surgery would have to be done in Mexico, because he was not licensed to practice in the United States, according to the affidavit.
Detectives served a search warrant and seized medical records and marketing materials that indicated Rubinstein was practicing medicine.
They say they also found evidence of illegally obtained controlled substance medication.
So far, Rubinstein is charges with one count of attempting or offering to practice medicine with a revoked license. More charged are expected, the sheriff's office says.
