The scene was chaotic.
Officers filled Amelia Avenue in Tampa searching for any clues.
Working to find out why a man was shot during a get together.
"I saw the police started to tape off the area," said Jimmy Jones.
Jones lives next door with his mothers.
He heard multiple shots.
"My mother thought it was like she was like whose celebrating and I said that is not a celebration those are gunshots," he said.
He ran outside and saw a man on the ground while family and friends rushed to help him.
"I went up and I saw the guy he was bleeding really badly," he said.
The Tampa Police Department said he was a victim of a botched robbery.
They said two men approached a group outside of the home with a gun trying to rob them.
When they wouldn't cooperate the suspects fired into the crowd.
They hit one man.
"It is just really hard to think that something like that would happen in your neighborhood especially when everything has been going so fine and nice all the time," said Edward Mills.
Mills also lives in the neighborhood. He said until the men responsible are caught he is not taking any chances.
"We are just going to have to be careful about whatever we do," he said.
As officers worked the scene on Ameila Avenue they got a call at the Extended Stay America off Spruce Street. They said another man had been shot during another attempted robbery.
Officers said Augustin Osorio-Pacheco and Nicolas Bravos were drinking beers on the tailgate of their pickup truck when two men in a gray F-150 pulled up wearing dark clothing and holding a gun.
They demanded money, but Pacheco ran. A suspect ran after him and shot him near the entrance to the hotel.
Pacheco later died at the hospital.
Officers have not said if the shootings are related.
"A lot of the neighbors right now are wondering what is going on because it could happen to them too," said Jones.
