TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Does it feel warm out there to you? Warmer than ever, you might say? That would be about right.

Tampa has reached a new record high for December 6. As of 2 p.m., it was 84 degrees at the official weather station at Tampa International Airport.

The previous record high for the date was 83, last reached in 2003.

FOX 13's Paul Dellegatto expects the heat to continue through the weekend, but it's not likely that we'll set another record tomorrow. The record high for December 7 is 86, which is also the record high for all of December.

Of course, much of the rest of the country is being slammed by ice storms and arctic air, making our record temperatures seem more extreme. But even the coldest December 6 on record wouldn't be too bad -- the record low for today in Tampa is only 52.
