Lightning look to avoid back-to-back shutouts

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Lightning head coach Jon Cooper likes the Senators. He likes Ottawa's head coach, likes the way this team plays.

That's a good thing, Thursday night is the first of five time the Bolts will face the Senators this season.

Ottawa gives up an average of over three goals a game, which is a good stat from Tampa Bay's perspective. The Lightning have been stuck in a scoring slump. The Bolts have been shut out over the last two games. It's been ten years since this Tampa Bay team has suffered back-to-back shut outs.

Lightning head coach Jon Cooper admits this team has been pressing, trying to make up for the absence of all-world scorer, Steven Stamkos.

Team captain Marty St. Louis sees things a little differently. He thinks guys need to flat-out compete and play desperation hockey every day, all day, no matter the opponent.
