Coast Guard snags another cocaine haul

ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -

Coast Guard officials are offloading their third major drug bust in the last few months.

Officials in St. Petersburg say they will drop off about $18 million worth of cocaine this morning.

The cutter "Hawk" unloaded $12 million worth of cocaine recently, and a week before that, another Coast Guard vessel flagged down a ship near Columbia. That time they found 14 bales of cocaine.

Today, crew members of the Coast Guard cutter Nantucket will offload more than $18 million seized in two busts.

The drugs were found in the Gulf of Mexico last month as part of Operation Martillo. The first was from a 25-foot vessel where 14 bales were confiscated.

The second was from a 30-foot vessel, and crews recovered 10 bales of contraband
