Posted: Updated:

Residents of some St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island neighborhoods are being advised to boil their water before using it.

County officials cited a drop in water pressure that accidentally happened the upgrade of a potable water pumping station in the area. Pressure has been restored, but the county opted to issue a precautionary boil water notice for:

  • St. Pete Beach - north of 45th Avenue
  • Treasure Island - south of 116th Avenue
  • Isle of Capri neighborhood

Officials are testing the water for possible contamination by microbes but the boil water notice will remain in effect for 48 hours or until those tests show the water is clear.

Microbes, if present in the water, can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms," the county warned. They may pose a special health risk for infants, young children, some of the elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems.
