The Polk County Sheriff's Office is looking for the driver who crashed into a truck and left his injured passenger behind.

It was just after midnight, deputies say, when the driver of a white Chevy Malibu crashed into a semi on Fish Hatchery Road and then took off. He's described as a thin, black male with short hair and he was wearing a white T-shirt.

Detectives say he left his passenger, a 24-year-old woman, in the car. She is in critical condition right now.

The semi was heading north when it was struck by the Chevy.

The Malibu has Florida tag CDU A08.

If you know who the driver is, deputies ask that you call 1-800-226-8477. You can remain anonymous and there is a cash reward.
