Pasco deputies find possible animal hoarding

Posted: Updated:
SPRING HILL (FOX 13) -

Pasco Code Enforcement Officials will be back out at a home in Spring Hill later this afternoon to further investigate a home that may be hoarding animals. We're told there are about 50 dogs, horses, ponies and squirrels at the home.

Pasco deputies were called to the home at 18310 Montour Drive in Pasco County over the weekend. Deputies say the initial call came in as a domestic situation. When authorities arrived, they say several dogs were barking so loud that they could not talk. That's when they began investigating a possible hoarding situation.

The case has been passed onto Pasco Code Enforcement and officials say they are waiting for a search warrant to get inside the house. Once they are inside they can evaluate the animals and find out their condition.

In the meantime, we're told that a local rescue group has already taken 11 dogs from the home. Right now investigators say the animals seen outside the home appear in good condition.
