The delays at Tampa International started stacking up early.
"We were supposed to get here at 9:30 last night and our flight was delayed and delayed and delayed. And finally they said, ‘oh, it's gonna be canceled,' " Kate Fisher said.
She and her husband are traveling from Cincinnati to Tampa with their 5-month-old baby girl.
"We get to the gate and the door is closing and I'm like 'we're the Fishers! wait for us! wait for us!' And she was like 'I'm sorry, the plane door is closed.' and I'm like 'you can open it back up!' So, anyway, we are on our fourth flight to get here and we finally made it," Kate Fisher says.
"I don't have any clothes, no shoes, nothing for Thanksgiving," says Lucy Cordeiro, who eventually made it to Tampa International Airport, but without her luggage. "It was terrible. I waited an hour and a half. It was delayed in Charlotte and they didn't know where is my bag," she said.
Ugly weather to the north is backing up flights all around the country. At TIA, dozens of flights were delayed by mid-morning. By 4 p.m., 132 flights had been delayed but there were no cancellations.
MISERY MAP: Check for flight delays
"Our plane took off an hour late, but it got us down to Philly, which was all rain. And we got to our plane just fine, rushing, but we were fine," said Joe Danunzio, who flew to Tampa from Rochester, New York.
But in the end, passengers had a lot to be thankful for: no snow in Tampa, and no rain here today.
"I'm thankful to be here, finally. And I'm thankful for these people and the family I'm about to see," Fisher said.
