Two kids in Bradenton got a special surprise Friday: Their mother is home for Thanksgiving.
Rochelle Anderson is in the U.S. Navy. She was deployed to Cuba for a year, came home briefly, then spent the past five months at a port in San Diego.
At today's special assembly at Ballard Elementary, the kids waved flags and sang the Star-Spangled Banner. Mom had a tough time keeping back the tears.
"Their lives keep going and I'm stopped," she said. "I'm stopped at the moment that I leave them, so I get back and they're completely different kids most of the time. So, it's hard. It's hard."
She's here for 10 days before she heads back to California.
This weekend, they'll head to Busch Gardens to try and make up for lost time.
