TAMPA (FOX 13) -

A 22-year-old uncle has been arrested and charged after his 4-year-old nephew accidentally shot his aunt in the back.

The incident happened last month in Tampa, and ever since, detectives had been looking for Randall Simmons after he left the scene of the crime.

The sheriff's office said his nephew was left alone in a car with Simmons' gun. The boy allegedly picked up the gun, and it fired into the back of his aunt, Shantell Wilson.

Simmons is charged with being a felon and possessing a firearm and negligence. He also faces a separate drug charge.

Wilson was OK after the shooting incident. She does not face any charges.

Another man was also arrested on drug charges when Simmons was taken into custody.
