MacDill makes changes to base security

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

MacDill Air Force Base is making some changes to its security protocol.

From now on, visitors to the base will need a pass to get through the front gate.

In October, the base changed its policy to require that all passengers in vehicles where the driver had a base access pass were allowed on base as long as they had a valid drivers license.

The change is in response to a security breach. Three months ago, a woman was arrested for sneaking onto the base. Suzanne Jensen admitted to sneaking onto MacDill four times in the past year.

She turned over a trash can to help her scale the gates.

MacDill is one of the nation's most important military installations. It is headquarters to both U.S. Special Operations Command and Central Command.
