Strip Mall Fire Burning In Northwest Chicago

Posted: Updated:

Firefighters are at the scene of a two-alarm fire at a strip mall on the Northwest side of Chicago.

The fire in the West Ridge neighborhood was reported just before 4 p.m., according to fire dispatch reports.

It was upgraded to a second alarm minutes later because of heavy smoke and flames, fire officials say.

Firefighters were forced to leave the 100-by-100-foot building on the 3100 block of West Peterson and fight the blaze from the outside after the blaze went through the roof, according to dispatch reports.

No injuries have been reported.
