BRADENTON (AP) -

A Tampa Bay area teen has pleaded no contest to fatally shooting another teen outside a gas station on New Year's Day.

A Manatee County judge sentenced 18-year-old Danny Waiters Jr. on Thursday to 22 years in prison after he pleaded no contest to second-degree murder with a firearm.

The Bradenton Herald reports that 19-year-old Paul Grieco was killed outside a Chevron gas station in what police have previously described as a drug-related shooting. Waiters was arrested Jan. 3 while a juvenile co-defendant turned himself in Jan. 11.

The co-defendant is set to stand trial January.
