Teen turns video game gear into growing enterprise

Posted: Updated:

Sam Vrinios isn't your average teenager.

"I feel like I can be a big role model to kids my age," he said.

At just 16, he has his own business, his own store front in Lakewood Ranch and ships products all across the globe.

"For me, honestly, every day when I wake up, I want to make myself better. I want to make my company better," Vrinios said.

Sam started customizing video game controllers when he was 14. It started out as a hobby, but now he's a full-fledged entrepreneur complete with a handful of employees. His creations at Imagine Customs are like technological works of art.

"You can do everything you can imagine for a controller," he said.

The custom controllers have really taken off over the last two and a half years. Sam's done about $700,000 in sales.

So you might think that sort of success would just go to his head, but you'd be wrong. Sam also gives back: he's donating some custom Xbox's and controllers to the Florida Hospital for Children on Monday.

It's all worth about $2,000.

"I feel like now that I've established my business, it's time to give back a little bit, help the kids out," he said. "It is awesome, because I can be an example to all the other kids."
