MESA, Ariz. -

A family is spending every Saturday until Christmas washing cars to remember a beloved little boy.

8-year-old Albert lost a battle to cancer that he began fighting during the holidays.

His mother and uncle lost their jobs while caring for him and got by on donations.

"They described it as most tumors are like a fist, but his was like a hand wrapping around everything in his head so it was inoperable," said Richard Sedillo.

Glioblastoma took Albert from his family in March of 2010.  His journey at Cardon Children's Medical Center began on Halloween. He was sent home one week before Christmas when doctors said he wasn't going to survive.

"It makes me look at my other kids running around and it makes me cry because I should have four kids running around, not three ya know, so it's really hard," said Albert's mother, Samantha Vale.

Vale was preparing to give birth to a girl as she was losing her second son.  She's now 3.  Albert named her Jasmine.

Now Samantha, her brother Richard Sedillo and their loved ones spend Saturdays in November and December washing cars.  They'll use all the proceeds to buy presents for children on the cancer floor of Cardon Children's Medical Center and provide money and gift cards for their families.

"We may not be able to give much, but we do what we can and at least put a smile on a couple kid's faces.. makes me feel better in my heart because this is what my son would want," said Vale.

"We just try to keep our minds straight and help out like everyone used to do with us," said Sedillo.

This holiday season will be the 4th year Albert's family will spend without him. While they describe him as a troublemaker, they say even his doctors and teachers couldn't help but laugh at his wild demeanor.

"He put a big impact on them.. he was just definitely one of a kind," said Sedillo.

The family will have a new location for car washes each Saturday.  We'll have the locations for you on Facebook.com/myfoxphoenix.
