K-9 Dog, Suspect Shot During Manhunt

Posted: Updated:

A K-9 dog and a suspect were shot during a manhunt in Egg Harbor Township.

SKYFOX flew above a busy and dangerous scene along the Blackhorse Pike in the West Atlantic City section of Egg Harbor Township Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say the suspect got out and ran into a swampy area behind the Travel Lodge Motel. The Attorney General's office says the officers believe 39-year-old Donald Capriotti also known as Donald Gardner was armed when a confrontation broke out and the officer reportedly shot him several times.

Atlantic City Police, Egg Harbor Police and the NJ State Police were on scene at the time.

Capriotti is in critical condition suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at Atlantic County Regional Medical Center.

Investigators are trying to determine which officer from the 3 agencies that responded actually shot the suspect. No word yet on the K-9's condition.

It is still unclear why they were trying to pull over Capriotti.According to the State Attorney General's Office, a multi-agency investigation led officers to try and make a traffic stop.
