It's a big day for one Bay area company.
Tampa's own "Toffee to Go" has been chosen in the "O," The Oprah Magazine, as one of Oprah's favorite things.
The notoriety could mean an immense boost in business. The Oprah Magazine has helped many start-up companies grow substantially after appearing in the magazine or TV show.
Lisa Schalk is the owner of "Toffee to Go." A once stay at home mom, Schalk started selling toffee to her neighbors.
Informal orders kept coming in, and soon she and her husband Jim were cooking toffee full time.
The first year, she sold about 125 pounds. Now, more than 10 years later, the sweet taste of toffee is spreading fast.
She's cooking nearly 1,000 pounds per day. They're shipping thousands of boxes to gift shops around the country and the volume keeps growing.
Schalk said she's excited about being chosen as Orah's favorite things. To prepare for the rush, she's installed several new phone lines, improved her website and their seasonal staff has grown.
