Amy Lange goes back to Haiti for the "Have Faith Haiti Mission"

Posted: Updated:
(WJBK) -

It's been almost four years since the massive earthquake left many dead and more than a million homeless in Haiti. Fox 2's Amy Lange and photographer Mike Shore revisit the mission in Port Au Prince to see the amazing progress since our last visit, two years ago.

The kids are thriving in school and are now learning English and French, among other subjects. We check in with some of the students we've met before, and introduce you to some new children now living at the mission.

Three dozen children now live there until they turn 18.

They are all doing well thanks to the generosity of so many right here in metro Detroit. Many of you have donated, and those donations have helped tremendously in the education and care for these children affected by tragedy.

Join us tomorrow night on Fox 2 News at 10 p.m. for Part Two of this story, when we show you life in Haiti outside the walls of the mission. We also meet some dedicated volunteers from Detroit.

Ford Motor Co. on Sunday unveiled a new Escort sedan designed in China for global sale at a Beijing auto show that highlighted the growing influence of Chinese tastes on the industry. Automakers are looking to China's biggest auto show this year to help boost sales in this huge but cooling market. Total sales last year reached 17.9 million vehicles, but growth is expected to slow from 15.7 percent to as low as 8 percent, even as newcomers including Lincoln and Tesla enter the market.
