Two men are facing charges following a road rage incident in a Home Depot parking lot Wednesday, Tampa Police said.
Investigators said two drivers were trying to pass each other near the front of the store but didn't leave enough room for the other to get by. Chief Jane Castor said an argument ensued between the two drivers, including Latasha Strong, who then spit on each other.
Police said Strong's husband, Darrell Strong, and his friend, John Christian, pulled up in a separate car and attacked the other driver, Raymond Lindstrom.
Lindstrom reached for his gun, investigators said, and his attackers eventually backed off. But Darrell Strong then retrieved his gun and fired a shot at Lindstrom as he tried to drive away.
"It's ridiculous. It's completely ridiculous," Chief Castor said. "There were people all around when the shot was fired."
Detectives said there were about a dozen people in the line of fire when Strong fired his gun.
The bullet didn't hit anyone, but it did blow out the windows of a car belonging to Larry Grace, who was walking out of the store at the time.
"When I saw the guy with the gun, I knew the only thing I should do is make myself safe," Grace said, adding he went back inside Home Depot and took cover. "It was so close four or five minutes one way or the other could have made a big difference."
Strong and Christian are both facing several charges.
FOX 13 spoke with Latasha Strong, who denied spitting on Lindstrom, and said he should be arrested for his part in the altercation.
