Sheriff's office hosts anti-cyberbullying classes

ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -

Parents may have mastered Facebook and Twitter, but there are a lot of other web sites teens love that they need to monitor.

That's why the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is hosting classes for parents about social media and their kids. Deputies are helping parents become familiar with the latest popular sites and apps because kids often know a lot more about the cyber world than most adults.

Parents are also learning about cyberbulling. One thing kids don't seem to realize is that whatever they put on the internet is there forever, even if they delete it.

The most important lesson for parents is to be aware of what their child is doing online, and to monitor their use.
