Lexington Oaks is one of the more balanced golf courses you'll find in our area, and it's certainly one of your best options in North Tampa/Pasco County region.

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

The Claw at USF is one of the Bay area's most "Florida" golf courses. What does that mean? At times, you might think you're in a nature preserve.

It's just north of USF's Tampa campus along the busy Fletcher Avenue, but it's still home to gators, deer and other wildlife.

It's also home to some of the toughest par-5s you can find around here, and many forget about its renovated practice facility, which is one of the nicest in Tampa.

Our favorites:

Favorite par-3: It has to be No. 12. It's probably one of the easier holes on the course, but it's beautiful. For an experienced golfer, it's merely a straight-forward shot into the green, but if you land in the bunker guarding the left side, you face a tricky up-and-down.

Favorite par-4: The 13th at the Claw has one of the more challenging tee shots. It is oh so tight, and there is water left. Driver here is an aggressive play, but laying up off the tee still leaves a tough approach, which includes a creek that runs in front of the green.

Favorite par-5: If you have ever driven past the Claw, you can't miss the par-5 No. 6. It dog legs to the left around a lake, and it is the most picturesque hole on this course. With two good shots, you can reach the green. It's not the challenge that makes this hole great, it's pure ascetics.
