3 Injured After Electrical Accident

Posted: Updated:
CAMDEN COUNTY, N.J. -

Three people are recovering from a freak accident. An unfortunate series of events in Bellmawr led to them being shocked by electricity from a power line.

Justin Colon says it could have easily been him on life support at Cooper University Hospital instead of his sister, 18-year-old Selina Walker.

He says he was helping to raise a ladder to retrieve a set of keys from the roof of an apartment building in the Bellmawr Manor Complex when she took over.

"It was sitting on the wire and I was holding it. When I was holding it, she took it from me," Colon said.

Police say Selina and two men helping her received a jolt of 7600 volts when the ladder made contact with a power line. She slowly fell into cardiac arrest.

"She could talk for a little bit. She said take the ladder off of her. And then she told me to tap her because I guess she couldn't feel her legs," Colon said.

Selina and the two others were hospitalized in critical condition.

Her family says the aspiring marine was just trying to help out when someone threw her mom's keys on the roof during an argument…no one would have imagined this.

Now they wait for any sign of recovery.
