Paralyzed Teen Walks Down Aisle At Sister's Wedding

18-year-old Mackenzie Gorden was paralyzed in a car crash last year, but she didn't let that stop her from walking down the aisle as a bridesmaid in her sister's wedding.

The Lake City, Iowa native was a cheerleader when she got into the accident in June 2012.

She swerved her car to avoid a deer, the car rolled into a ditch and she suffered a broken neck injury. Authorities did not find her until two hours later.

Gorden underwent a new therapy called locomotor that recreates walking by force until the body knows what to do. In September, she was able to walk in the wedding.

Gorden's father first insisted that a doctor would not tell his daughter she would never walk again, but Mackenzie overheard the conversation.

At one of her first meetings with Dr. William Scelza at Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado, she says she knew that no dream was too big considering her circumstance.

She pushed through despite difficulties. Her mother, Karen, said she has seen her daughter in a positive light.

"I've never seen her shed a tear," Karen said.

The teen walked down the aisle with her brother and best man, each step closer to the alter, not turning around once for her wheelchair.
