Isabelle Morris is an impressive young woman. She's a senior at Plant High School in Tampa, ranked 3rd in her class, and now recognized nationally after winning an elite scholarship.
"I was really surprised I had seem the profiles of the people who had won before and I was like oh there's no way. "Isabelle said.
Oh yes there is. She did it winning the 250 thousand dollar Leonore Annenberg Scholarship. Its given to only a select group of students nationally.
"It was exciting knowing that I have this opportunity. But at the same time kind of scary like oh I really want this now." Isabelle said.
Now Isabelle can focus on her studies and she wants to go to Brown University with the 250 thousand dollars money isn't an issue.
"That's pretty cool." Isabelle said.
Erin Adams is Isabelle's college counselor at Plant and she nominated her for the award.
"She was the first person that, that crossed my mind because she fit all the criteria," Erin said. "With all her academics strengths and goals and everything and she was the perfect fit."
Being selected for this scholarship took 7 months. Writing essays, giving interviews, but Isabelle never let it affect her. She knew it was life changing for her family if she got it. Beside, Isabelle has always loved the learning process.
"If there is something that I'm not sure about. Don't quite know I look it up immediately. I don't like not knowing thing ." Isabelle said.
