Sources: Washington High forfeits football game after fight

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Washington High School has forfeited its game against Carver High School after a fight, sources tell FOX 5.

The game was scrapped after scuffle involving some players on Thursday night at the school, several sources told FOX 5. Some players reportedly noticed that some items had been stolen from their locker.

One woman told FOX 5's George Franco that several players confronted some teens on a baseball field. Atlanta police said they responded to a fight between some players and members of a legacy baseball team.

Five members of the baseball team and one parent were treated at Grady Memorial Hospital after complaining of injuries, according to police.

Atlanta Public Schools spokesperson Kimberly Willis Green issued a statement saying, "Atlanta Public Schools is confirming that an incident occurred yesterday that involved members of the Booker T. Washington High School Football Team, and disciplinary action will be taken.  Washington High School's football team will forfeit tonight's game against George Washington Carver High School as part of the disciplinary action."

Prosecutors considered him their key witness, a longtime Gwinnett developer given immunity to spill what he knew about corruption inside county government. David Jenkins testified before a Gwinnett grand jury in 2010. He also met multiple times with prosecutors. Those interviews were videotaped. Four years later, prosecutors agreed to a no contest plea bargain with former commissioner Kevin Kenerly on one count of bribery. He will serve 10 years on probation and pay a $10,000 fine.
