Police say a woman jumped off the upper lanes of the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway this morning, killing herself.
The DOT closed the Crosstown's upper deck near 50th Street, where the woman's car was left. The lower deck was also closed both ways, but the lower and upper deck were reopened.
Despite reports on Twitter from both the sheriff's office and Tampa police, the upper deck remained closed for a couple of hours.
TPD later clarified saying that police had opened up lanes, but the DOT had not opened up the expressway.
It appears the woman left her car on the upper deck, and then jumped, according to TPD.
The woman was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. Her identity has not been released.
