Same Sex Couples Prepare To Say 'I Do' In Jersey

COLLINGSWOOD, N.J. -

Larry Exler and Jim Donio are crazy in love.

"I  still feel the same way about this man as I did the first time I saw him," said Exler touching Donio's hand.

They're also  head over heels they'll finally be able to marry as early as Monday.

"I  still have the same sparkle when he walks into the room and I  still have the same feelings for him when I met him," said Exler.

That was 23-years ago. Now after their 1994 commitment ceremony and a 2009 civil union they're gearing up to say I do, again.

They're gearing up to say I do for the third time.

New Jersey's State Supreme Court has decided -- for now -- it will not block same sex marriage ceremonies across the state starting Monday.

After years of dreaming of this day, the 51 and 57-year old soul mates chuckle at the heart ache they've been through. 

"Maybe they should do that for everyone else, " says Donio. You can't just get married you have to be in a   committed union, then you can get married."

"Maybe the divorce rate will go down," chimed in Exler.

The court's decision sent the Collingswood couple racing to borough hall. They were among  five same sex couples who applied for a marriage license Friday.

That means a week from now, when Donio and Exler are married Friday by Mayor Jim Maley,

They'll be just like other married couples and no longer have to worry about benefit access rights to help care for each other after two decades together and two other ceremonies.

"The third time is the charm, third time is obviously the charm for it to be legal and get the benefits everybody else gets and we should have been entitled to 23 years ago."

Applications for a marriage license can be picked up Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Collingswood Community Center.

Maley is scheduled to perform several ceremonies next week, the first on Monday afternoon.
