Partial Lunar Eclipse During Friday Night's Full Moon

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

If you were outdoors Friday night, you may have noticed something different about the moon.

This was a full "hunter" moon with a partial lunar eclipse. The moon rises while sections are dark because of the Earth's shadow.

The best viewing occurred between 7:50 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., FOX 29 Chief Meteorologist Scott Williams said. Hopefully you got a chance to check it out!

Friday's high temperature was pretty seasonable for this time of year at 67, one degree above normal. It was a mostly clear evening, so temperatures were tumbling.

For your weekend, expect increasing clouds, then evening showers on Saturday. That system is out of here giving us sunshine, cool and breezy conditions for Sunday.

If you snapped a photo of the partial eclipse, send it to FOX 29's UReport page. Email them to ureport@fox29.com, tweet them @fox29philly, add them to our FOX 29 Facebook page or upload them at ureport.myfoxphilly.com. Remember, you can send us weather photos anytime, then check them out here once they're approved.
