Police: Burglar set convenience store on fire

Posted: Updated:
YBOR CITY (FOX 13) -

This morning's fire that burned through a convenience store was arson, Tampa police believe.

Police say someone burglarized the Family Super Store overnight on North 22nd Street near Lake Avenue in Tampa, and then set it on fire.

The fire appears to have been started just after 1 a.m., FOX 13's April Kellogg reported.

Police say someone was walking by when they spotted the flames and called 911. Crews arrived and were able to put the fire out, but we're told it was not an easy situation.

The building has several roll down windows and doors that made it difficult for crews to get inside.

No one was hurt but the building is left with a lot of smoke and water damage.

Detectives are looking for any information related to the fire. If you know anything, call Tampa police.

FOX 13's April Kellogg contributed to this report.
