Three Injured After Bus Accident

Posted: Updated:
MAPLE SHADE, N.J. -

A nasty rush hour crash in Burlington County was just getting cleaned up Wednesday night.

It happened on east kings highway where the roads are re-opening, a New Jersey transit paratransit bus flipped over an embankment sending three people to the hospital

The paratransit bus used to transport passengers with disabilities sits dangling over an embankment along East Kings Highway and Route 38 in Maple Shade.

Police say the driver of this white Chevy SUV may have rear-ended the bus sending it flipping over the guardrail and wedged in the trees.

"We had patients inside that vehicle so we had to make sure before we even went in there we had to stabilize the vehicle so our guys can go in there," Kevin Greenfield of Maple Shade Fire Dept said.

A driver and a passenger on the bus were injured as fire crews had to rip through twisted wreckage to get them out through a window.

We were told the driver of this SUV was walking around after the crash that shut down the road for hours. None of the injuries were life threatening.

No word on the conditions of the victims who were injured and so far no charges have been filed against either driver.
