Polk County Sheriff's deputies are conducting a deputy-involved shooting and death investigation in Lakeland.
Around 2:20 p.m. Friday, PCSO received a call from Paul Manganello in reference to his wife, Jocelyn, who had just called him and told him that her brother, 21-year-old Sheldon Norman, was going to kill himself.
Jocelyn was very concerned about her brother and was leaving work to head to Lakeland to find him, and asked her husband to call PCSO and report it.
PCSO deputies responded to Manganello's home and initiated a missing and endangered person call in reference to locating Sheldon Norman.
Later on, Jocelyn found her brother in Lakeland and asked him to get into her car, a gray Hyundai.
After he got in, she contacted PCSO and told them that he had guns on him.
Deputies spotted the car driving eastbound on Memorial Blvd. in Lakeland near Ingraham Ave.
The deputies pulled the car over. Jocelyn got out and ran away from the car.
Deputies got out of their patrol cars and approached the vehicle. They noticed Norman had a gun, which he refused to lower.
The deputies opened fire. Norman was declared dead on-scene.
The three deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave.
